Parent Updates

12/9/17

Dear Parent/s,

Another term is coming to an end. Where does the time go? It seems so short but looking at the students now, I can also see just how far they have come both  academically and socially.                                                                                                                                                                        We don’t break up for another week or so but I want to remind you of a few events, and to give some notice to the generous volunteers for the Swimming program. Swimming will be from Tuesday October 10th (first week Term 4)  to the end of second week Friday October 20th. I will not be here for the first week but CRT Hayley will. She has taken our grade for PE many times and is very familiar with our students and the school procedure for Swimming. I am proposing the following timetable for our helpers but please come and see me if your plans have changed. We will be leaving school at 10:30 and returning at 12:10pm. Depending on the day, we could possibly have more than one helper so feel free to come and ask.  Helpers (parents of):

WEEK MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY
1 Ned Arnau Arlo Harper
2 Luca Arnau Arnau Arlo Harper

The helpers are expected to help students change into and out of their bathers. They will also be assigned to oversee a swimming group, possibly to adjust their goggles, take them to the toilet and to be another pair of eyes looking out for their safety etc.                                     If anyone is leaving early for holidays, please let me know (or remind me). Our Performing Arts Concert is on Thursday 22nd September at 2:30pm and everyone has a part they have been practising. You are all invited to attend!                                                                                          On the last day students may dress up in their favourite football gear. Their gold coin donation will go to helping the Aboriginal Literacy Foundation. Remember, we are breaking up early on the last day, at 2:30pm.

Have a happy and safe holiday everyone.  Kay

8/8/17

Dear families,

Yesterday and today some special notes went home – Bedtime Story Night notes for Yr. 1 students, and Urban Camp notes for Yr. 2 students. Please read these notes and return permission slips as soon as possible.  Book Character Dress-up day will take place on Monday 21st August. Please encourage your child to think ahead about how they would like to come dressed on the day. We encourage homemade and recycled costumes. This is one of the many ways we will celebrate Book Week 2017. Following the working bee last weekend , the decision was made to give base/cubby playing a break in order to give our much loved trees the rest they need. Talk about this with your children.

22/4/17                                                                                                                                                                                               Welcome back to Term 2. We have an exciting and busy term ahead.  Last week we kicked off by participating in a Team Building incursion. This was organised as part of our Term 1 Inquiry that focused on personal and interpersonal skills. The unit was called Let The Games Begin!  Our Term 2 Inquiry will focus on sustainability, and the Unit is titled Why We Need Water?

Junior School Assemblies will start in Week 2. Check out the schedule below to make sure you don’t miss the week that you child’s class performs.

14/3/17

Dear Parent/s,

The end of term is fast approaching and there are several new items to put on the Calendar, as well as some reminders. This Friday (17/3) is Ride to School Day. The idea is that we ride to school on bikes, or anything with wheels.  Walking is also encouraged. If you do have to take the car, I hear if you walk the last 300 metres it will be considered a walk!!  Prep Parent Reading and Writing Information night will be held on 29th March at 7:30pm. A note will be coming home soon with details.  School Photos will be taken on 28/3/17. Be beautiful and be on time! A reminder to please always come to school on time as the activities at the beginning of the day are important to help children to settle in. It is also important for children to begin to develop some independence by taking in their own bag etc rather than rushing. Jo our Library teacher is requesting that all children bring a library bag as some books are coming back quite bedraggled.  Now we have a Class Rep. Welcome and a big thank you to Tracey, Harper’s mum who could not have joined on a busier week (for her!) Tomorrow you will receive a note to complete if you would like to be emailed class information.

At the end of term there are some dates to remember.

  • On the last Friday (31/3) we finish at 2:30pm
  • On this last day (31/3) there is a Family Picnic on the oval from 5:30 -7pm. This is to say good-bye to Louise so let everybody know!
  • Louise’s last Assembly will be on the last Monday (27/3). Afterwards there will be tea and coffee in the Library.
  • On the last Thursday (30/3) there will be a whole school Engagement and Well-Being event. More to follow!

Keep posted on the DLJ for any more updates.
